Spring Luncheon and Fashion Show - Wednesday, April 6, 2011

For forty years, the AFF has sponsored a luncheon and/or fashion show in the spring. This event is held at The Hotel Hershey® and includes a lovely lunch and the opportunity to visit with friends and view the latest fashions from local stores. The Luncheon has become a major fundraiser and an equally important opportunity for social exchange between our membership and the community.

The Association of Faculty and Friends would like to thank the following:

Fall Coffee - September 23, 2010
This event serves  as the "kick-off" event of the academic year and provides a social opportunity for old and new members to come together.

Bella Italia Restaurant, 709 Fishburn Raod, Hershey. Please RSVP to Margaret Cyran at mhcyran@comcast.net.

Peace Tree - November 19, 2010
Each fall the AFF sponsors a special project, The Peace Tree. It was established in 1988 to provide a special way to say, "I'm thinking of you." Over the years, it has become a symbol of joy and giving - a custom to honor and celebrate the life of a loved one or friend with a light on The Peace Tree. Each person so honored receives an announcement by mail that a light has been sponsored in his or her name. The Peace Tree is lit through the new year.
On November 19, 2010, we will gather together with members of our organization, medical and graduate faculty, staff, students, patients and their family members, and guests from the community, for a special program acknowledging the sponsored names and showcasing local talent. Tax deductible contributions to The Peace Tree are returned as gifts to the Medical Center supporting and promoting medical education, research, clinical care, and scholarship by The Association of Faculty and Friends.

Palliative Care Initiative
The Association of Faculty and Friends has supported palliative care at Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center and within the local community for over ten years.  AFF members who volunteer to serve on the palliative care committee donate their time and energy in a number of ways.
AFF members who have undergone the accredited training for palliative care visitation and also the volunteer training for the hospital visit in-patients at the Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center.

"Culinary Classics"  is a collection of recipes and stories shared by the medical center community and the AFF membership. To order a copy of the "Culinary Classics" cookbook, which is one of a kind and  a true collective item, please call 571-7488. The cost is only $25. The book can be picked up or delivered (within a  certain radius), or can be shipped for $4.95 extra. All proceeds benefit Palliative Care at the Hershey Medical Center.
