Abstract Submission

Abstracts should be submitted through the following link: PARRC 2016 - Abstract Submission.

Abstract submission will open February 10, 2016, and the deadline for Abstract submission is 11:59 PM, Monday, March 7, 2016.

Each resident may submit more than one abstract.

An abstract previously presented at a national meeting may be submitted.

Our aim is to send notification of acceptance by April 8, 2016 so that you will have ample time to prepare your presentations.

Registration

Each attendee, resident, and faculty should register using the Electronic Registration Form found at the following link: PARRC 2016 - Registration.

Registration will open February 10, 2016 and the deadline for registration is 11:59 PM, Thursday, May 5, 2016. Please see hotel information to determine the dates that preferred rates expire.

Abstract Preparation Information

Abstracts should be prepared in Microsoft Word, using 1 inch margins and 10 point Arial font, and should not exceed one page in length (including all headings shown below and any tables and figures). Please proofread your abstract carefully prior to submission. Please define all abbreviations on first use.

Original Research:

Title
Authors (first name, middle initial, last name); presenting author should be the first author, with name in bold)
Department and Institution
Introduction
Objective/Hypothesis
Methods
Results
Conclusion/Discussion
References

Case Report:

Title
Authors (first name, middle initial, last name); presenting author should be the first author, with name in bold)

Criteria on which abstracts will be judged include:

  • Importance of the topic to the field of anesthesia
  • Ability of the author to convey the important concepts
  • Adherence to the requested format

Abstracts will be given scores by at least 2 reviewers, and the top 10 scoring abstracts in each category (Original Research and Case Report) will be chosen for oral presentation.

Presentation Information

Oral Presentations:

  • Oral presentations will be evaluated by a panel of judges chosen from a list provided by each participating institution.
  • Presentations will be limited to 8 minutes with an additional 2 minutes for questions. Adherence to the time limit will be one of the judging criteria.
  • Please prepare presentations in PowerPoint format.

Poster Presentations:

  • Posters should be 4 feet wide by 3 feet high.  A space will be assigned when you check in at the registration table the morning of the conference, and posters should be hung before the first session of the day begins at 8:00 AM.
  • All posters will remain hanging for viewing for the entire day.
  • For judging, there will be 2 sessions. Each poster will be assigned to one session for judging (residents will have about 5 minutes to present to the judges), and residents are asked to be near their poster at least during the first half of their assigned session and until they have presented to the judges.

Awards: 

Awards will be given for the best presentations. We are pleased to announce that the Foundation for Anesthesia Education and Research (FAER) will again be a sponsor of PARRC.

Parking and Directions

The street address for the Penn State Hershey Medical Center (and College of Medicine) is: 500 University Drive, Hershey, PA 17033 

When you arrive on campus, please follow signage to the Biomedical Research (BMR) Building. You will be able to park in the BMR parking lot.  The parking  gate will be down, but will open when you drive up to it.
 
PARRC will be held in The Julien F. Biebuyck Faculty and Alumni Library, which is located in room C2860 (2nd floor of the Biomedical Research Building).  There will be signs at the entrance to the Biomedical Research Building directing you to the library.
