Penn State Hershey Cancer Institute Difference
Multidisciplinary Teams
At Penn State Hershey Cancer Institute, we provide an environment where experts from different specialties work together as a team under one roof. Medical and radiation oncologists, surgeons, radiologists, pathologists, nurses and pharmacists work together to diagnose and treat patients with various types of cancer. Cases are reviewed by our disease teams, and patients are seen by several members of the care teams on the same day, thereby expediting diagnosis and treatment, and making it more convenient for patients and families. This approach sets us apart from other cancer centers in the region.
The Cancer Institute currently supports five multidisciplinary clinics: Skin and Connective Tissue Oncology, Breast, Lung, Head and Neck, Abdominal (Liver, Pancreas, Foregut) and Urology.
Penn State Hershey Cancer Institute delivers cancer services throughout central and eastern Pennsylvania. The Institute's mission includes clinical care, research, education and community outreach. Penn State Hershey Cancer Institute brings the benefits of cancer-related research and education at Penn State's College of Medicine to the care of patients at Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center.
