Research Membership Criteria and Benefits

Membership Criteria

The strength of a matrix cancer center is directly linked to bringing talented investigators from across the University.  We encourage investigators interested in cancer research collaborations to apply for members of Penn State Hershey Cancer Institute.  Applicants must hold a faculty appointment at the Penn State College of Medicine, Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, Penn State Hershey Cancer Institute partner or affiliate institution.

Acceptance/Approval of a membership application is determined by the Scientific Leadership Committee and is based on the following criteria:

  • Major laboratory, clinical, or population research interest in cancer
  • Peer-reviewed cancer research funding
  • Publications on cancer-related subjects
  • Desire for active collaboration with other Cancer Institute investigators
  • Willingness to participate in Cancer Institute activities and committees

It is not mandatory for acceptance of initial membership application to meet all criteria; reasonable criteria are based on the nature of the application and determined by the Scientific Leadership Committee and respective Program Leader(s). Members will be reviewed on an annual basis to determine compliance with the above criteria.
