Transition Clinic

The Spina Bifida Team would like you to begin thinking about transitioning to the adult clinic. Our website will help you organize your thoughts about your future. Most clinics across the United States do not have adult clinics and children at the age of 18 or 21 have to find a primary care physician who will manage their care. We are very fortunate at Penn State Hershey Medical Center to have an adult clinic that has been around for many years. The Pediatric Neurosurgeon and Pediatric Orthopedic Surgeon will let you know when they think you are stable enough to go to the Adult Spina Bifida Clinic. At about the age of 14 years old we will begin seeing you in our transitional clinic which has been incorporated into our pediatric clinic. To read more ….
