Children's Heart Group is committed to furthering knowledge of congenital heart disease through active engagement in clinical research. Currently, there are over thirty active research protocols and collaborations with research efforts on a national level.
Our research projects have a wide range, starting with a small school based program to look at "The use of pediometers as an adjunctive tool in a school-based pediatric weight management program". We are part of the Congenital Heart Surgeons Network Studies. Our catheterization laboratory is actively involved in multicenter intervention trials. Another focus is exercise physiology in patients with and without congenital heart disease with several projects including cardiac rehabilitation in children. The echocardiography laboratory group is active in developing and applying new methods to quantitate right and left heart function in the perioperative context, in patients with lung disease and during exercise.
