Welcome to Penn State College of Medicine

Enrolling its first students in 1967, the College of Medicine at Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center confers the doctor of medicine degree and, in conjunction with the University's Graduate School, offers doctor of philosophy degrees in anatomy, biochemistry and molecular biology, bioengineering, cell and molecular biology, genetics, immunology and infectious diseases, integrative biosciences (options in bioinformatics and genomics and chemical biology), microbiology and immunology, molecular medicine, molecular toxicology, neuroscience, pharmacology, and physiology. In addition, the College of Medicine offers master of science degrees in anatomy, public health sciences, homeland security, laboratory animal medicine, and physiology.

Collectively the College and Medical Center boast a portfolio of approximately $100 million in funded research. Projects range from the development of artificial organs and advanced diagnostics to groundbreaking cancer treatments and understanding the fundamental causes of disease.  More...

In the presence of faculty, friends and peers, current graduate students were invited to be the first to recite the Graduate Student Oath. Then incoming students received their first white laboratory coat, a symbol of their entrance into the biomedical research profession.   Learn More >>

Professor Awarded Fulbright Scholarship

John Ellis, Ph.D., Professor of Psychiatry and Pharmacology and Director of the Molecular Neuropharmacology Laboratory within the Department of Psychiatry at Penn State College of Medicine, has been awarded a Fulbright Scholar grant to do research at the University of Bonn, in Bonn, Germany, according to the U.S. Department of State and the J. William Fulbright Scholarship Board.

He is one of approximately 800 U.S. faculty and professionals who are traveling abroad through the Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program.
