Welcome to Penn State Comparative Medicine
Penn State Comparative Medicine located at Penn State College of Medicine provides the husbandry and veterinary care for the laboratory animals that are used in research, provides a graduate degree program to train veterinarians in the specialty of laboratory animal medicine, and perform research.
The Department of Comparative Medicine is one of eight basic science departments of the College of Medicine and is staffed by faculty members who are veterinarians specialized in laboratory animal medicine and veterinary pathology. The Department is unique among basic science departments in that a significant portion of the time and effort of the faculty and staff is devoted to the service mission, operation and oversight of the Animal Resource Program, and animal facility. For the past 44 years the Department has thrived under outstanding and committed leadership. The Department became nationally recognized as one of the leaders in education, research and service among Departments of Comparative Medicine and animal care facilities.
