Educational Resources for students on an Ophthalmology Rotation
The following website and text resources are recommended by the leadership team of the Ophthalmology Student Interest Group:
Websites
- http://webvision.med.utah.edu - University of Utah, good pathology
- http://www.emedicine.com
- http://webeye.ophth.uiowa.edu/eyeforum/ - University of Iowa "Eye Rounds" - Cases with good explanations.
- http://www.academy.org.uk/tutorials/pupils.htm - Interactive Pupil Lessons
- http://www.medrounds.org/ophthalmology-board-review/exam/ - Review Questions
Books recommended by medical students:
- "Vaughan & Asbury's General Ophthalmology" (nice basic reference book for the 3rd year ophthalmology elective)
- "Blueprints: ophthalmology" (helpful pocket reference when on an ophthalmology rotation, but not a must)
- "Ophthalmology Secrets" (can be a helpful resource while on an ophthalmology rotation, but probably more useful as a quick reference/review book when you're a Resident)
- "Massachusetts Eye & Ear Infirmary Illustrated Manual of Ophthalmology" (very nice atlas for the medical student as well as the Resident)
- "The Basic and Clinical Science Course (BCSC) Series", published by The American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) - good reading material which gives you more information than "V&A's General Ophthalmology"... found it helpful for 4th year ophthalmology rotations
- "Wills Eye Manual", "Kansky's" - other books used by residents that could be useful on the med student elective
