Health System and Affiliates

Penn State Hershey Health System was formed in 2008 to provide a formal management structure to manage Penn State Hershey Medical Center's relationships with other health care providers throughout Pennsylvania, including joint ventures and other collaborative agreements. In support of our strategic vision, the health system has partnered with other hospitals and health care systems to assist them in bringing high quality clinical services to their local market. The Penn State Hershey Health System continues to seek new opportunities for outreach and partnership in areas of patient care, research and education.

Hanover Hospital

Penn State Hershey Heart and Vascular Institute has formed an affiliation with Hanover Hospital to bring state-of-the-art cardiovascular care to the local York and Adams county region. Services include consultations for advanced heart failure, rhythm disorders, pediatric cardiology and diagnostic cardiac catheterization services.

Hershey Endoscopy Center LLC

Hershey Endoscopy Center, LLC, (HEC) located in Hershey, PA directly across from the Medical Center, is an ambulatory surgery center specializing in outpatient endoscopy procedures. HEC is a partnership between the Penn State Hershey Health System and local physicians.

Hershey Outpatient Surgery
Center

Hershey Outpatient Surgery Center (HOSC) is a for-profit joint venture with the Penn State Hershey Health System and local surgeons. The 22,000 square foot, six operating room facility specializes in orthopedics, urology, podiatry, pain management, plastic surgery, ophthalmology, neurology, gynecology, pediatric surgery, general surgery, ear, nose and throat (ENT), and colorectal surgery. The center also participates in the Penn State Hershey Residency Program.

Horizon Healthcare Services Penn State Hershey Health System partners with Lancaster General Health, The Reading Hospital, and Pinnacle Health to operate Horizon Healthcare Services, a provider of comprehensive infusion therapy and related services for residents of central and Eastern Pennsylvania.

Lebanon VA Medical Center

Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center partners with the Lebanon VA Medical Center by providing Physician Services in the specialties of ophthalmology, orthopedics, gastroenterology and cardiology. Services include regular, on-site outpatient clinics, procedures and consultation services.

Lewistown Hospital

Lewistown Hospital is an associate member of the Penn State Hershey Cancer Institute, whose mission is "to improve cancer control in Pennsylvania, develop research programs, and seek designation as a NCI Cancer Center by the National Cancer Institute." Through this association, Lewistown Hospital is able to participate in national cooperative groups, gaining access to population-based research protocols and clinical trials in cancer prevention and control.

Moses Taylor Hospital Under this new agreement (May 2013) agreement, the pediatric unit at Moses Taylor Hospital (Scranton, Pa.) will be staffed by Penn State Hershey Children's Hospital pediatric hospitalists, physicians who specialize in the care of acutely ill infants, children and adolescents. Moses Taylor Hospital is a 217-bed acute care hospital committed to quality, patient-focused care. The hospital's signature women's and children's services include family birthing suites - recognized for three years in the top 10 percent of birthing hospitals in the nation - pediatrics and the region's only Level 3 neonatal intensive care unit.  Moses Taylor Hospital is an affiliate of Commonwealth Health.

Mount Nittany Medical Center

Penn State University, Penn State College of Medicine and The Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center have formed a master strategic affiliation agreement with Mount Nittany Medical Center of State College, PA. Through collaborative initiatives, both parties endeavor to enrich the quality and expand the depth of health care services offered in the Centre county region. Current initiatives include academic partnership involving student clerkships as well as associate membership in the Penn State Hershey Cancer Institute, enhancing education and research opportunities in the local market.

Pennsylvania Psychiatric Institute

Pennsylvania Psychiatric Institute (PPI) is a not-for-profit collaborative endeavor between Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center and PinnacleHealth System devoted to enhancing access to psychiatric care for the region. The 74-bed state-of-the-art institute operates distinct inpatient units including a new 16-bed child and adolescent psychiatry unit and a new 14-bed adult unit, as well as a 20-bed geriatric psychiatry unit and 24-bed adult psychiatry unit, enabling PPI to serve a broad range of patients with a variety of psychiatric conditions 24 hours-a-day, 7-days-a-week.

Penn State Hershey Rehabilitation
Hospital

Penn State Hershey Rehabilitation Hospital is a partnership between Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center and Select Medical Corporation, one of the nation's largest and most respected providers of comprehensive rehabilitation and specialized acute care services. The Rehabilitation Hospital is a 54-bed specialized hospital dedicated to the care and treatment of individuals with catastrophic injuries and disabling conditions. We work closely with referring hospitals and physicians to ensure that patients begin their rehabilitation as soon as medically appropriate and offer a continuity of inpatient through outpatient care to best meet the needs and rehabilitation goals of every person we serve. The Rehabilitation Hospital is undergoing a 44-bed expansion that will include 22 transitional rehabilitation beds, an outpatient program specializing in ongoing treatment for traumatic brain injuries, and an outpatient wound care program.

St. Joseph Medical Center

St. Joseph Medical Center, located in Reading, PA, is an affiliate member of the Penn State Hershey Cancer Institute. Through this affiliation, St. Joseph Medical Center is able to participate in national cooperative groups, gaining access to population-based research protocols and clinical trials in cancer prevention and control.

Susquehanna Health System

Penn State University, Penn State College of Medicine and Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center have formed a master strategic affiliation agreement with Susquehanna Health Care System, which includes three hospitals: Divine Providence Hospital, Muncy Valley Hospital and The Williamsport Hospital & Medical Center, located in north central Pennsylvania. The affiliation includes associate membership in the Penn State Hershey Cancer Institute, enabling participation in national cooperative groups, gaining access to population-based research protocols and clinical trials in cancer prevention and control.

Wyoming Valley Health Care
System

Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, through the Penn State Hershey Neuroscience Institute (PSHNI), partners with Wyoming Valley Health Care System to provide physicians services in the specialty of neurosurgery, providing access to advanced neurosurgical services in the Greater Wyoming Valley of Northeastern Pennsylvania.
