Coping with medical bills and insurance claim filing is complex and is especially difficult at a time when you or a loved one is dealing with a medical problems or serious illness.

Financial arrangements for your stay at the Medical Center should be made as early as possible. Prior to your admission, you should have reviewed you insurance coverage so that you are aware of all policy requirements and any restrictions that may apply.

Most insurance companies require prior approval for your anticipated admission. Although your physician’s office and our pre-admissions unit may have assisted you with this process before you were admitted, it is your responsibility to obtain approval from your insurance company or your primary care physician for your stay at the Medical Center.

On your behalf, a claim will be submitted to your insurance company. You will be billed for any remaining balances after your insurance company processes your claim.

For the convenience of our patients, Medical Center financial counselors are available to provide individualized service.

If you are experiencing any difficulty in understanding the bills or making payments, you may contact our financial counselors directly. Our counselors can assist in determining whether you quality for a special program, a budget plan, or financial consideration.

Patient Financial Services staff is available to meet with you personally in the Academic Support Building, which is located just east of the main Medical Center building.
