How do I check my messages?
After you log in to My Penn State Hershey Health, you will see your homepage. Select Secure Messaging from the navigation panel on the left and then click on Inbox. This will take you to your received messages. To view the content of a message, click on that message.
How will I know when I have a new message?
When a new message arrives in your inbox, an e-mail alert message will be sent to the e-mail address that was entered for your account during registration. Click on the link in that Email to access the message in your Secure Message inbox. You may have to log in to access your account.
How do I send a message to a provider?
You can send a message to a provider by clicking on the Secure Messaging navigation panel. This will expand that navigation panel to reveal message options including available messaging templates. Select a template from those provided. Next enter your provider’s name in the “To”: search box and then select the appropriate provider from the dropdown list that appears. Type your message. Click Send.
Please note that we are adding provider messaging capabilities over time. All providers will not have messaging access immediately.
How do I view my scheduled appointments?
In the Appointments menu click on the View Upcoming Appointments. You will see details for each of your scheduled appointments. Actions for each appointment include Reschedule, Cancel, and Instructions. You can verify information prior to your visits and add the information to your personal electronic calendar system.
How do I request a new appointment?
Click on the Request a New Appointment link under the Appointments section of the left navigation.
- Select a provider in the “To:” field.
- Enter a reason for your appointment and a preferred provider.
- Enter your first and second choices of an appointment date and time.
- Enter your phone number and any comments regarding your request that would be helpful to the staff scheduling the appointment.
- Review the details of your request, click Send.
- You will receive confirmation of your appointment via your secure message inbox.
How do I reschedule or cancel an appointment?
Select Reschedule or Cancel from the Appointments menu or click on the link on the View Upcoming Appointments page. Complete the form and submit it. You will receive Email notification or your request in your secure message Inbox.
What is included in the medical record?
The medical record includes a view of selected information from your electronic medical record at Penn State Hershey. You have access to your clinical record summary and test results for those performed in Penn State Hershey labs. You can request changes to your personal contact information, view patient education information, and download a copy of your medical record to share with other health care providers.
Is my information secure?
Yes. My Penn State Hershey Health is HIPAA compliant and provides you with the ability to securely view, store, and share your health information.
Why is Cerner referenced on the website?
Cerner is the company we use to securely manage your electronic medical record information. My Penn State Hershey Health is a customized Cerner system which provides you with the capabilities to interact with the medical records system.
