Third Year Curriculum

The third year begins with a week-long Transition to Clinical Medicine course.  It is followed by a one week course, Advanced Clinical Diagnostics. These courses provide students with necessary skills to begin their clinical work. The remainder of the third year includes a sequence of required core clinical clerkships in Internal Medicine, Family and Community Medicine, Psychiatry, Primary Care Medicine, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Pediatrics, and Surgery. Students in the third year participate in two additional "island" courses:  Clinical Therapeutics and Improving Healthcare.  Students complete at least one month of elective time in the third year and may select one, four week elective or two, two week electives in  the following areas: two and four week electives list.
