Annual Fundraising event - The Penn State Hershey Cancer Institute's 4th annual Chocolate Tour to raise funds for cancer research to find the Cure is scheduled for August 9, 2014. This bike, run and walk events serves as the Cancer Institute's hallmark fundraising event each year. The theme of the event focuses again on one of the major attractions in our area, namely chocolate, hence the name of the event: "Chocolate Tour". For more information regarding this event click here
Research Funding - As part of the Melanoma Center's ongoing efforts to advance and support translational research to find the cure, the Center announces the availability of funding to support projects. The funds available were raised through the Annual Chocolate Tour fundraising effort. For more information on the funds available and how to apply........ .
Seminar series - This series provides a platform to center members to showcase their work and are held every first Thursday of every month in T3007 in the Cancer Institute Building.
Research meetings - These weekly meetings provide members with an opportunity to collaborate with other center members are scheduled for every Wednesday from 4-5 PM.
Clinical integration meetings - The purpose of this group is to identify strategies and to develop business plans for new clinical trials of promising agents for melanoma patients. Pre-clinical data generated in the basic research component of the center is heavily discussed to translate these discoveries to help patients fighting melanoma. This group meets the 2nd Tuesday of every month from 5 -6 PM. Read more….
Tumor Board meetings - The board meets the last Tuesday of every month from 5-6 PM to discuss clinical cases. The purpose is to provide a platform to continually improve clinical care.
Community Outreach - The Center is involved in multiple exciting community outreach activities to promote general awareness of this deadly disease. A multiple of different events occurred and will be occurring over the year.
