Complete Care for a Full Range of Kidney Diseases

Our kidney disease specialists treat the full range of kidney diseases in both children and adults.

Our nephrologists (kidney specialists) treat all types of kidney problems, kidney cancer and those related to diabetes. We provide long-term care for kidney failure — both hospital and home-based dialysis — and kidney transplantation. You get comprehensive care and support every step of the way.

We help you and your family cope with kidney disease and offer counseling to help you adjust to changes in your health, lifestyle and work. We offer training for home-based dialysis and make sure you have information about available support — such as federal, state and local agencies, including funding for dialysis and medicines. You get all the assistance you need to live well.

This support group provides programs of interest to patients and their caregivers managing chronic diseases such as COPD, diabetes, heart failure and stroke. Sessions offer an opportunity for support and socialization.

The group meets the third Thursday of every month from 10 to 11 a.m. at Penn State Health St. Joseph - Spring Ridge, 2607 Keiser Blvd., Wyomissing.

The meetings offer a safe environment, activities, shared experiences and information sessions from a variety of health care professionals, said Clinical Disease Coordinator Morgan Boyer.

“Chronic diseases play into exacerbations that force patients to seek emergency services that could be prevented,” she said. “If they have a person who keeps them on point, someone to talk to for support, they have a greater likelihood of success. The goal is for the client to own their disease.”

The groups meet in large rooms that allow for proper social distancing. Participants are screened for COVID-19 and must wear a mask. A Zoom option is available. For more information or to register, call 610-378-2030.
