The Penn State Hershey Medical Group has launched a pilot to improve Access to General Neurology. This pilot is a team approach (two nurse practitioners, one physician assistant, one supervisory physician). Penn State Neurology has openings for general neurology consults with weeks.
General Neurology includes evaluation for headache, neuralgia, cognitive dysfunction, numbness/tingling, weakness, gait (walking) dysfunction, abnormal brain imaging, abnormal emg (nerve study), involuntary movements, dizziness, blackout spills, and other ill defined neurologic questions.
A team member will help guide the neurological evaluation to provide direction to patients and their healthcare providers. If ongoing neurologic care is recommended, regional options for ongoing care will be discussed.
Penn State Hershey Neurology, in addition to the above Access Team, continues to offer the traditional outpatient subspecialty services seen below.
