Jammin’ for Jess
Jammin for Jess is one of the premier fundraisers for the Kidney Foundation of Central PA. In November 1999, seven-year-old Jessica Orlosky succumbed to the complications of leukemia and associated kidney failure. Family and friends rallied to create a fundraising event in Jessica's memory to help other children who are battling kidney dysfunction. Jammin' For Jess is held at the Hershey Lodge and Convention Center in yearly in late January. Over 700 attendees enjoyed dancing to live music in a festive atmosphere -- reflecting Jessie's love of life. With the proceeds from the premiere event, the Jessica Orlosky Fund for Children with kidney disease was created. A portion of the contributions is earmarked for Camp Kydnie, a summer camp for children with kidney disease, located in Millville, Pennsylvania. The event includes silent and Chinese auctions to further benefit children and families with kidney disease. Annual net proceeds have more than quadrupled since the premiere event.
