Penn State Children’s Hospital is a full service tertiary care Children’s Hospital within a University setting. Plans are currently underway for construction of a new free-standing Children’s Hospital on campus. All imaging is staffed by our Division of Pediatric Radiology, which consists of 5 full-time Fellowship trained pediatric radiologists. The Children’s Hospital includes a Level I Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, Pediatric Intensive Care Unit and Level I Pediatric Trauma Center (1 of only 4 in the State of Pennsylvania) and is staffed by a full compliment pediatric sub-specialists serving South Central Pennsylvania and the Tri-state area.
The Section of Pediatric Radiology practices state-of-the-art imaging. Daily practice is comprised of all imaging modalities. One of our full-time pediatric radiologists is a Fellowship trained pediatric neuroradiologist as well, bringing additional expertise to our practice. A subspecialist in pediatric nuclear medicine (one of only two in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania) supervises pediatric nuclear medicine studies. All of our pediatric radiologists have a joint appointment within the Department of Pediatrics. One of our faculty has developed and oversees pediatric cardiac MR and fetal MR.
We are fully digital with access to state-of-the-art equipment including PET/CT and MR imaging. There are numerous teaching/working conferences throughout the day designed to actively involve our residents and medical students. Our section is always staffed by 2-3 faculty who teach the next generation of pediatric imagers while providing world class patient care. There are many opportunities to collaborate in research within our section, department and with our pediatric and subspecialty colleagues at Penn State Children’s Hospital.
