The three Pennsylvania Shaken Baby Syndrome Prevention & Awareness Program Nurse Coordinators provide guidance and support to all Pennsylvania Children’s & Birthing Hospitals and free standing Birth Centers.  They offer Pennsylvania Nurses Association (PNA) approved formal in-service training for nursing staff.  Working in collaboration with, and funded by,  the Pennsylvania Department of Health, this training provides Pennsylvania hospital staff with the guidelines and community standards of nursing practice necessary for compliance with Pennsylvania Law 2002-176: The Shaken Baby Syndrome Education Act. Please contact the Pennsylvania Shaken Baby Syndrome Prevention & Awareness Program office to schedule an in-service presentation or to answer any questions.  

In addition, the program oversees Phase II implementation of outpatient parent education on infant crying in pediatric & family practice offices in 16 counties of central Pennsylvania.  All supplies for both the hospital-based and office-based programs are provided free of charge to participating facilities in Pennsylvania.  Supplies can be ordered directly from the vendors below or by contacting the PA SBS Program office directly at 717-531-7498.
