Summer Undergraduate Research Internship Program (SURIP)
SURIP is designed for college students who are interested in pursuing a career in the biological sciences. The typical intern will be between their sophomore and senior year of undergraduate studies. SURIP interns have been hosted from over 80 undergraduate institutions and have been placed in over 20 departments at the College of Medicine. SURIP would be most appropriate for students considering application to PhD programs in the biomedical sciences and is not intended for students who will apply to medical school. SURF - American Heart Association - Emphasis in Cardiovascular Research
Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship - Basic or clinical research laboratory focused on cardiovascular research. Applicants should address their career goals and their interest in cardiovascular research. APPLY NOW.
INTREPID - NIH/NHLBI
Introduction of a Novel Tiered Research Experience Promoting Inclusion and Diversity. This is a 2-consecutive summer program. Only current freshmen and sophomore underrepresented students are eligible. APPLY NOW
STEP-UP - NIH/NIDDK
Short-Term Educational Program for Underrepresented Persons. STEP-UP is a National Consortium that places students across the country, including the Penn State Hershey campus. APPLY NOW.
CURE - PA Dept of Health - Emphasis on Behavioral and Molecular Aspects of Addiction
Commonwealth Universal Research Enhancement - Collaborative initiative with Lincoln University in Pennsylvania. Only Lincoln University students are eligible. APPLY NOW.
COMMONWEALTH SCHOLARS - PSU
Only students enrolled in the Eberly College of Science the Penn State University Park campus are eligible. Targeted at students underrepresented in clinical and biomedical sciences. APPLY NOW.
Schreyer Honors College - MD/PhD Summer Exposure Program
Program for outstanding students in the Shreyer Honors College who are interested in becoming a physician-scientist, including a mentored research experience and weekly clinical exposure sessions.
