Cindy Hipszer, RN, MSN, CNML, Coordinator Surgical Weight Loss Program, obtained her nursing degree from Lancaster General School of Nursing, her Bachelor’s in Nursing from Slippery Rock University and her Master’s in Nursing Leadership from Drexel University. Cindy is responsible for the coordination of our Surgical Weight Loss Program by serving as a liaison between the bariatric surgical practice and the hospital. She also provides clinical direction to patients in the program in order to ensure optimal bariatric patient outcomes and satisfaction. Cindy worked for over 20 years in the Medical Intensive/Intermediate Care Units at Penn State Hershey Medical Center and joined the bariatric team in 2015.
Janelle McLeod, R.D., L.D.N. attended the University of Delaware. She holds a bachelor of science in Human Resources with a double major in Nutritional Sciences and Dietetics, a minor in Biology and a focus in fitness. Janelle completed her dietetic internship at Marywood University. As a registered and licensed dietitian, Janelle provides nutrition assessment, education and counseling to help patients achieve their long term weight loss goals through the incorporation of healthy eating habits and lifestyle change. Janelle has been a member of the team since January 2001.
Susan Brennan, R.D., L.D.N., Clinical Dietitian, is a registered and licensed dietitian for Penn State Hershey Medical Center’s Surgical Weight Loss Clinic. She is a military veteran with over 20 years of experience in clinical nutrition, foodservice, disease prevention and health promotion. Susan enjoys lecturing and providing individual nutrition counseling tailored to meet the varied needs of her clients.

Patricia Packer, L.P.N. graduated from Harrisburg-Steelton Highspire School of Practical Nursing in August 1977. She is a Certified Wound Care Associate (CWCA) and responsible to triage new patients to assess their BMI, current medical history, and medications. Some of her duties include scheduling consults for individual tests/labs requested by physicians and providing patient education to Surgical Weight Loss patients. She will triage pre and post op surgical patients to assess BMI and health history. Patty has been with the Penn State Hershey Medical Center since 2012, joining the team at that time.
Dawn Kleinfelter, Support Assistant, has been with the Penn State Hershey Medical Center since 1990 and has worked with the Penn State Hershey Surgical Weight Loss Program since 2003. As the insurance specialist, she is responsible for obtaining authorizations for patients' operations, as well as psychological service authorizations. She can assist patients as an intermediary with Patient Financial Services and provides numerous other invaluable administrative services.
Alison Bower, Medical Office Assistant, was hired at Penn State Hershey Medical Center in early 2014 and came to Penn State Hershey Surgical Weight Loss Program in June of 2014. She brings with her over 20 years of customer service experience. Alison always greets you with a smile as she welcomes you into the office for your appointments and assists you with all of your scheduling needs. She is also in charge of numerous administrative duties around the office.
