Warmth and caring are the hallmarks of our fitness center. In fact, our friendly atmosphere is the first thing you'll notice when you walk in the front door. You'll always be greeted with genuine smiles because we want to make you feel right at home. Whether you would like to lose weight, get stronger or just get away from the world for a little while, the Penn State Hershey University Fitness Center offers state-of-the-art equipment, as well as services and programs to fit your individual needs.

As exercise physiologists and personal trainers, we can give you the health, fitness, exercise, diet and nutrition instruction to help you achieve the results that you want and deserve! Whether it is designing workout programs, weight training routines, improving your physical health, helping you recover from a sport injury or just providing motivation for a health, exercise, and fitness goal - we can help you. - Rich Bradford - Rich holds a master's degree in Sports Science, and is certified by the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) as a Health Fitness Instructor and certified by the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) as a Strength and Conditioning Specialist. - Niki Lazarz - Niki holds a bachelor's degree in Sports Nutrition, Nutrition & Dietetics from Mansfield University. She is also a certified personal trainer through the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) and recently completed an internship with the Pennsylvania Advocates for Nutrition and Activity (PANA). Niki is available during the evenings and some weekends. Contact Niki.
- Rob Mikesell -Senior Exercise Physiologist - Rob is a graduate of the master's degree program in Sports Science at Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP). His continuing education and professional certifications include the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) Health Fitness Instructor and a facilitator of Active Living Every Day (ALED) through the Aerobics Institute and Human Kinetics. Rob is available to take appointments afternoons, evenings, and some weekends. Contact Rob.
- Jennifer Price - Senior Exercise Physiologist - Jen has a B.S. in Kinesiology as well as additional advanced certifications as a Gold Certified Advanced Health & Fitness Specialist and Certified Personal Trainer from the American Council on Exercise. Jen is also a Level-1 Certified Peak PilateSystem instructor in Matwork, Reformer, and Cadillac and has done additional training through Balanced Body University for the Pilates Arc and Pilates on the foam roller. - Deborah Tregea - Senior Exercise Physiologist - Deb holds a master's degree in Exercise Physiology and Sports Administration. She has a variety of professional certifications including Health Fitness Instructor from the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) and from the Institute for Aerobics Research (Cooper Center) and Active Living Every Day (ALED),as well as Pilates certifications from PhysicalMind and training with Stott. Meet the front desk staff that will assist you with any questions you may have about the operations of the fitness center, membership, hours and other assistance to make your membership the best possible. - Susan Dobbs - Susan has been an integral part of the UFC team since 2004. Always the "people-person", it's no secret that she just loves working at our front desk. Susan is also the main contact person for the University Conference Center, and is always ready to help with any questions regarding events and reservations.
- Carolyn Ellison - Carolyn, another long-time member, joined the UFC front desk staff in 2007. She works full time in emergency preparedness with the Department of Health and has her Master's Degree in Health Administration. In her free time she enjoys reading, running, and spending time in the great outdoors with her husband and three sons, who are all avid golfers.
- Michelle McCurdy - Michelle joined our front desk staff in 2006, and is another UFC member who made the leap from customer to staff. In her spare time, you might find her on the UFC courts playing volleyball or on a computer since she has a strong interest in technology and all things Apple. Michelle also has her Master’s Degree in criminal justice from PSU, so don’t try breaking the rules on her watch!
- Arlene Mikesell - Arlene came to the UFC in 2006 when she decided it was time for a career change. It seems 17 years of driving a school bus was plenty! Today she’s an important part of our front desk team, working regular afternoons, evenings, and weekends, as well as filling in on open shifts wherever we need her. When she’s not here with us, Arlene keeps busy with her three favorite hobbies: walking, gardening, and bowling.
- Tom Misheck - Tom loves that his job at the UFC front desk allows him to meet new people on a daily basis, and that working in this environment helps inspire him to stay physically fit. Tom is one of the newest members of the UFC front desk staff and fills in for various shifts. In his spare time, Tom likes to work out, play golf and has been a PSU football season ticket holder for over 25 years.
- Mary Ellen Shaffer - Mary Ellen has been part of the UFC since 1998. She oversees the daily operations of the front desk and its staff. Always there to greet each member with a warm smile, Mary Ellen truly loves that her job allows her the opportunity to get to know the members and make a difference in their experience at the UFC.
- Steve Wachter - Steve is one of the UFC’s original members. Since we’re always looking for people who love the UFC as much as we do, we enticed this self-proclaimed “dinosaur” to come of out extinction in 2000 and join our front desk staff. He’s been giving our members fast and friendly service ever since. When he’s not at the UFC, Steve enjoys playing golf and traveling to exotic locales.
Meet the staff that work behind the scenes and can assist you with your needs. - Gerise Bruzgulis - Assistant Director of Auxiliary and Business Services. Gerise oversees the UFC's talented staff, its facilities, and its programs. She holds a bachelor's degree in Health Education (PSU) a master's degree in Cardiac Rehabilitation and Exercise Science, and is an ACSM certified Exercise Specialist. - Lisa Fetchko - Administrative Support Assistant,as a Administrative Support Assistant for Auxiliary and Business Services, Lisa is involved in the planning and administration of programs at the University Fitness Center. Lisa is the main contact for the Weight Watchers at Work program. She also assists with scheduling and front desk operations.
- Brad Price - Facility Attendant, every house needs a Mr. Fix-It and that's Brad for the UFC! Everything from cleaning and fixing equipment, running errands to the hardware store and upholsterer, to supervising the installation of new equipment, Brad does it!
